About the seminar

We invite all aikidoka to visit a special event for Lithuanian Aikido community and for the whole Baltic countries as well. The Director of Aikikai Hombu Dojo (Dojo-cho) Mitsuteru Ueshiba, a great-grandson of the founder of Aikido Morihei Ueshiba, is coming to lead an International Aikido seminar. We strongly hope that this seminar will gather many aikidoka from all around the Europe since it is the extraordinary visit of the successor of O-Sensei and the first time for Aikido history in Baltic countries.

This seminar will be an outstanding feast for all the lovers of martial arts and Japanese culture. The culmination of the seminar will be marked with the 3rd Aikido Festival in Lithuania that will host the demonstration by the leader of the seminar Mitsuteru Ueshiba as well as demonstrations by aikidoka from Lithuanian and foreign Aikido dojos. The seminar will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Association “Sūkurys” and the 15th Anniversary of Lithuanian Aikido Aikikai Federation.

The seminar will also include a special training session for children lead by Akira Matsumura Shidoin – instructor of Hombu Dojo which comes as assistant of Dojo-cho Mitsuteru Ueshiba.

The seminar will take place in Vilnius, Delfi Sport Centre, on the 16th-17th of June, 2018.

Mitsuteru Ueshiba,
Hombu Dojo-cho

Born in Tokyo, on 27 June, 1981
He started Aikido practice under the instruction of his grandfather, Kisshomaru 2nd Doshu from when he was 3 years old. After graduating from Toyo University in March 2006, he has been on the staff of Aikikai Foundation.

Administrative Appointments at Aikikai Foundation
April 2012: Appointed Acting Hombu Dojo-cho,
April 2015: Appointed Hombu Dojo-cho
May 2016: Appointed Directing Manager of Aikikai Foundation

Currently, he teaches mainly at Hombu Dojo and also instructs university classes, society groups, and aikido clubs in the universities, etc. In addition to ordinary instruction, he is invited to domestic and overseas Aikido anniversaries by many organizations and makes efforts to promote Aikido through the anniversary seminars and embu (demonstration).

Akira Matsumura,
3 Dan, Aikikai

Started practicing Aikido in TOHOKU University Aikido club. In April 2015 he joined Aikikai Foundation Instructor Department.
Since 2015 Akira Matsumura Shidoin teaches children classes at Hombu Dojo, since 2016 he also teaches outside Hombu Dojo in such public institutions as Japan Women’s University, Niigata University and etc.
Furthermore since 2016 he accompanies Dojo-cho as otomo (attendant) at domestic and overseas seminars.
During Anniversary seminar in Lithuania Akira Matsumura Shidoin will conduct a special training session for children.
